What Is
Knee Arthroplasty?
Using the latest technology, Dr. Fitzpatrick uses robot navigation to perform knee replacements. The precision of the robot allows fine balancing of the knee to restore your motion, relieve pain, and restore your quality of life. Most (>90%) of patients go home in less than 24 hours after this surgery. The typical patient is off pain medication within 10 days after surgery and is walking without an assistive device in less than 6 weeks. Physical therapy is critical in rehabilitation during your postoperative course, and we will ensure you have access to this before undergoing surgery.
Critical factors that affect outcomes are diabetes, use of blood thinners, patient’s BMI (body mass index), and previous surgery. Dr. Fitzpatrick desires to optimize these factors before undergoing any joint replacement surgery.
